Following a record-breaking year in 2015, the SFM Foundation's golfing for scholarships events raised the bar even higher in 2016. This years' golf events generated $171,000 in revenue, showing an increase of 43% over last year's total.
This June, the Foundation held not one but two golf events. After hosting the 8th annual Minnesota Golfing for Scholarships event (June 20 – Woodbury, MN), the SFM Foundation added the inaugural Iowa version just three days later (June 23 – Norwalk, IA).
"Everyone we met in Iowa was friendly and grateful we brought the Foundation to Iowa," said SFM Foundation President Dave Kaiser.
The funds raised by the golf events will go toward scholarships for students whose parents were seriously injured or killed in workplace accidents in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
"The Foundation has allowed us to touch so many lives and help those that many forget about," Kaiser said. "So to all of our volunteers, supporters, and donors...thank you!"
Since its inception in 2008, the SFM Foundation has committed a total of $1.1 million toward scholarships benefiting 115 students, including the 21 recipients announced this year.
The SFM Foundation is a proud affiliate of the national nonprofit organization, Kids' Chance of America, and is also known as Kids' Chance of Minnesota and Kids' Chance of Iowa.
